The Phoenix Chapter of the American Harp Society presents the Arizona Harp Competition 2024. Phoenix Harp Center is proud to host the competition.
This competition is open to harpists aged 18 and younger who are residents of Arizona. A panel of 3 judges (2 harpists, 1 non-harpist) will adjudicate and award prizes across four age groups on April 20, 2024 at the Phoenix Harp Center.
We trust the competition will provide a rewarding challenge and a chance for young harpists to grow.

Phoenix Harp Society members were treated to 3-part workshop. Theory 101 class first, then the THREE CHALLENGES: 1. Write a Musical Round. 2. Harmonize 'America the Beautiful'. 3. Spruce Up Your Own Score.
1. Basic Theory Review. 2. Extended Chords 7th, 9th, diminished. 3. Major Repertoire seen as Lead Sheets; Hasselmans, JS Bach, Andres and Salzedo. Discover how chord knowledge helps to master your repertoire.
The vibrant harp ensemble, s.harp.s, performed at Sagewood Retirement Community on July 9, 2019. Ensemble members were Espen and Maya Lai, Jocelyn Obermeyer, Abigail Hu and Stephen Hartman. Residents enjoyed music of George Gershwin, Frede Grofe, G.F. Handel, Carlos Salzedo and Richard Rogers. This same program was also performed at St. Joseph's Hospital in mid-town Phoenix.
